Stas Konkin
There’s no doubt that Stas Konkin, aka “Genieman”, is one of Ukraine’s most promising up-and-coming musicians. Born December 1976 in the Russian town of Belgorod, then part of the USSR, Konkin has made his home in Odessa, Ukraine.
There, from the shores of the Black Sea, he has been busy making his name across Eastern Europe as one of the region’s top DJ’s and a first-class dancehall, ragga and reggae musician.
Konkin got his start as a DJ in 1996, but it wasn’t long before he had formed his own hip-hop group called “Tenth Block.” In 1998 the band produced a hit album, “Give Some Shit.” But in 2001 the ambitious Konkin decided to launch a solo career, and in collaboration with producers Lavina Music, he has been climbing the charts ever since.
Together with CJ Plus, Konkin wrote and released the popular album “Genieman & PlusMasstaz.” Several years later his raw tallent rocketed him onto the European stage when he played in the selection round of the Eurovision song contest, and Konkin's compelling Global One performance with Ukrainian superstar Gaitana promises to take him even further.
